Step 1
For lapdogs up to 2 months old, feeding with mother's milk is enough. Then transfer the puppy to a nutritious diet, taking into account some of the characteristics inherent in this group. Up to 4 months of age, the most intensive growth of lapdogs occurs. During this period, feed the puppy at least 6 times a day. The portions should be small. Approximately 1 tablespoon per pound of weight. Place the food and water bowls in one specific location. Make sure your dog always has fresh water, especially if it is eating dry food.
Step 2
From 4 months to six months, transfer the puppy to 3 meals a day. Do this gradually. By the year when the growth of small breed dogs is almost over, feed twice a day - in the morning and in the evening. If you feed your pet dry food, do it in strict accordance with the recommendations on the package and, in no case, do not overfeed. Weigh the dog every 10-15 days. This will allow you to take timely measures to adjust nutrition in one direction or another. The dry food contains all the necessary substances for the normal development of the lapdog, so there is no need to introduce mineral supplements.
Step 3
If you are a supporter of natural nutrition, then be sure to include boiled beef, chicken and turkey meat, rabbit meat, liver, and sea fish in the dog's diet. All these products should only be cut into small pieces. Do not feed your pet raw meat. For breakfast, cook low-fat cottage cheese with fermented baked milk or kefir, buckwheat or rice porridge. Add vegetable oil to the porridge. Then your dog's coat will be silky and healthy. For a natural diet, add complex vitamins and minerals available from your veterinarian pharmacy. Be sure to supplement the diet of the lapdog with fresh vegetables and fruits. Only use special dog biscuits as a treat.
