The Sphynx, especially the Canadian and Don, is one of the most popular decorative domestic cat breeds. These animals are ideal for people with hair allergies, as well as those who are not ready to comb their pet endlessly. However, in return for hair care, sphinxes require special care for their skin, eyes and ears.
Instructions
Step 1
Usually sphinxes tolerate the bathing procedure quite easily and are ready to let themselves be washed almost daily. However, if your pet is not too inclined to water procedures, then you can wash it a little less often, but at the same time gently wipe its skin with a damp sponge or soft towel every day.
Step 2
As a means for washing such a cat, you can use any shampoos or types of soap, short ones do not contain strong fragrances and the pH level of which does not exceed 5, 5. Children's shampoos are ideal for these purposes. You can wash the sphinx with your hand or a sponge, while avoiding getting water into the cat's ears and washing the face without a special tool - clean water. The temperature of the water for washing the sphinx should be moderately warm.
Step 3
After washing, help the cat dry by gently wiping it off with a towel. While the sphinx's skin is still damp, you need to keep it in a warm place and protect it from drafts so that your pet does not catch a cold. If after washing you feel unnatural dryness of the sphinx's skin, you can gently lubricate it with baby oil.
Step 4
In addition to the bathing procedure, you need to pay special attention to caring for the ears and eyes of the sphinx. In cats of this breed, there is an increased sulfur production, so they will have to clean their ears quite often. The most optimal schedule for this procedure is twice a week. The cat's ears should be cleaned with a cotton swab dipped in clean water. It is necessary to carry out cleaning very carefully, while processing only the visible part of the auricle.
Step 5
The eyes of the sphinx need special care, since these animals have absolutely no eyelashes, and an actively secreted jelly-like secret protects from dust and inward particles of sphinxes from getting into the eyes. In order to prevent the cat's eyelids from sticking together due to the excess of these secretions, the sphinx's eyes need to be rinsed daily. For these purposes, it is best to use a cotton pad dipped in distilled water or tea.
