British cats are very clean, though, and they need regular washing. It is necessary to accustom a kitten to bathing from "young claws" so that at a later age the regular washing procedure does not turn into a painful test for the owner and the animal.
It is necessary
- - a sink or other convenient bathing container;
- - special shampoo;
- - rubber mat;
- - sponge;
- - rubber brush;
- - a large towel;
- - paper towels;
- - silent hair dryer.
Instructions
Step 1
They begin to bathe kittens from the age of two months. Wash your pet for the first time 2-3 weeks after it appears in your house, even if it is not too dirty. During this time, the baby will have time to get used to and adapt to a new place, and the first bathing will be a measure not only hygienic, but also educational. If everything goes well, in the future your pet will not fall into a state of panic when washing, and you will avoid scratches and bites. A British kitten should be bathed no earlier than 4 hours after feeding.
Step 2
It is much easier to wash a small kitten than an adult animal. For this, you can use any convenient container. But it's best to bathe your baby in the sink. Place a rubber mat or towel on the bottom. Adjust the water temperature - it should not exceed 38-40 degrees. Fill the container about 10 cm.
Step 3
Do not make sudden movements. Talk to the animal in a calm, measured voice. Smoothly lower it into the water with all four paws at the same time. Keep your muzzle away from you. Put one hand on the shoulder blades, with the other moisten the fur.
Step 4
Do not use products for people, they can harm your baby's skin and fur. Purchase a special seaweed and herbal shampoo. Make sure that when washing, water does not get into the kitten's eyes and ears. To avoid irritation, apply eye drops before bathing.
Step 5
Dilute the shampoo with water in a 1: 1 ratio. Apply it to the kitten's fur. Lather well with your hand. Brush out the coat with a soft rubber brush. You don't need to wash your head. Just wipe the muzzle with a sponge soaked in soapy water.
Step 6
The kitten should be washed 2 times. Then very thoroughly, at least 3 times, rinse the animal's fur. Wrap it in a large towel. Dry thoroughly. Blot the fur with paper towels - they absorb water very well. Dry with a silent hair dryer or send to "dry up" to the battery on a pre-spread dry towel. You cannot leave the baby wet - cats catch colds easily.
