While the background of large aquariums is often made of three-dimensional polyurethane decorations, the situation is much simpler with small aquariums. A small section of the underwater world can be easily recreated using a roll-up decorative backdrop, which can be purchased at any specialty store.
It is necessary
- - rolled background for the aquarium;
- - special colorless glue;
- - plastic spatula;
- - glycerin;
- - silicone or sealant.
Instructions
Step 1
The background can be glued on both the inside and outside of the aquarium glass. It usually does not have a self-adhesive backing. If you want to place it on the outside, wash the glass with a special product. Wipe thoroughly.
Step 2
Crop the background picture to the desired size. Purchase a special transparent adhesive such as JBL Fixol. It allows you to get the job done well without destroying the ink. Over time and if desired, the picture can be easily replaced by slightly warming up the glue.
Step 3
Using a plastic spatula, apply the adhesive to the outside of the rear window. Spread evenly. Glue and iron one edge of the picture well first. Move gradually towards the opposite edge of the background. Smooth it out and drive out air bubbles and excess glue with the same plastic spatula. The whole process is well controlled from the back of the glass. Pay special attention to the edges of the picture, as they are the first to come off. Carefully remove excess glue.
Step 4
If you can't get glue, glue the background with glycerin or any mineral oil. The order of work is the same as in the first case.
Step 5
You can fix the background on the outer surface of the glass by simply gluing it with tape. However, it should be taken into account that water can get into the gap between the glass and the background film, and the adhesion of the latter in different places will not be the same. In this case, the visual perception of the picture will be distorted.
Step 6
For installation from the inside of the aquarium, a special background covered with a protective film is produced. It looks much more impressive than usual and does not lose its brightness for a long time. For gluing, a sealant or silicone is used, which is applied around the perimeter of the glass.
