As a rule, a decorative rabbit is a fairly clean creature. Regular bathing is not required for him, as well as for a cat. But if the rabbit gets very dirty, it will have to be washed. However, since these animals catch colds easily, some precautions must be taken.
It is necessary
- - a small bowl of warm water
- - special shampoo for rabbits
- - several towels
Instructions
Step 1
In case of slight contamination, it will be enough to wipe the soiled area with a damp cloth or a towel moistened with warm water.
Step 2
If this is not enough, put some warm water in a basin, put the rabbit there, and wash the soiled places. Be prepared for the rabbit to resist, hold it tightly but gently. Try not to wet the animal entirely, in no case do not dip it into the water with your head. Do not shower: the noise of the water can make your pet even more nervous. In addition, water in the ears can cause otitis media.
Step 3
It is undesirable to use detergents, and in case of severe contamination, purchase a special shampoo for rabbits. It is better to dilute the shampoo in water before applying it to the fur of the animal.
Step 4
Dry the rabbit thoroughly with a few towels and transfer it to a warm place. In no case do not allow him to hypothermia - this can lead to illness. Close all windows to avoid drafts.
Step 5
When you try to dry the animal with a hairdryer, there is a risk that it will get scared even more - after all, the bathing process is already stressful for it. In addition, rabbits do not like loud, unexpected sounds. If you do decide to use a hairdryer, keep it at a great distance from the animal so as not to burn its delicate skin.
Step 6
Watch out for the animal, wipe its fur with dry towels until it dries completely.
