When a kitten appears in the house, you need to think about both choosing the right nutrition for him and keeping the baby healthy. The necessary vaccinations will prevent the kitten from getting sick.
At the age of 2-2, 5 months, the kitten has colostral immunity. At this age, he can get sick. Many owners are sure that if the animal is kept in ideal conditions, then it will not get sick. Even if the kitten does not leave the apartment, its body is not protected from the penetration of viruses and bacteria.
Preparing the animal
Vaccination is carried out only for healthy and prepared kittens. If you purchased a kitten without knowing its breeders and all the necessary information about it, then you should first deworm the animal. In a veterinary pharmacy, a remedy for worms is purchased for kittens in accordance with its weight.
If, after using the medicine, the animal did not observe the release of helminths, then the first vaccination can be carried out. If you see helminths, then you should repeat the medication in a week. The use of drugs for helminths intended for humans is prohibited, animals in this case receive severe poisoning.
Sick and malnourished animals are not allowed to be vaccinated. Kittens during the period of changing teeth, with a fever or initial signs of diseases such as vomiting and diarrhea, are also excluded from vaccination. The decision to vaccinate a kitten is made by a veterinarian after a preliminary examination of the animal.
Vaccination
Kittens are vaccinated with domestic and foreign vaccines. The choice of the drug is made only by the owner. Your veterinarian can advise on a specific brand and manufacturer.
All vaccines are divided into monovalent (from one disease - rabies, mycoplasmosis) and polyvalent (from 5-7 diseases). Kittens are vaccinated against the following diseases: rabies, rhinotracheitis, calcevirosis, panleukopenia, chlamydia. Additionally, you can vaccinate against diseases: viral leukemia, infectious peritonitis.
After the introduction of the first vaccine in 2-3 weeks, the kitten needs to be revaccinated or repeated. In this case, stable immunity is created in the animal. In the future, vaccination is carried out once a year. It is desirable to carry out it with a drug of one name. The veterinary institution issues a passport with the necessary marks on the vaccinations delivered to your animal.
If you are traveling with a kitten to another city, then you should contact a licensed veterinary clinic, where, after examining the animal, a veterinary certificate for export is issued. If by this time the kitten has reached 3 months of age, it must be vaccinated against rabies.
During the vaccination period, you cannot walk with the animal for 2 weeks, let it communicate with other cats and dogs. They are carriers or carriers of dangerous infections.
