Step 1
Vaccination is just as important for a kitten's health as proper feeding, maintenance and hygiene. The list of vaccinations that a kitten must have can be found on information boards in any veterinary clinic. Vaccines against panleukopenia, calcivirosis, rhinotracheitis and rabies are generally considered mandatory. Along with them, it is recommended to vaccinate the animal against less common diseases, such as chlamydia, viral leukemia and infectious peritonitis.
Step 2
Nowadays, many different multivalent vaccines are produced, which contain antigens of many diseases that are relevant today. You need to vaccinate kittens no later than 2-3 months of life. It should be noted that at the time of vaccination, the pet must be completely healthy. A healthy kitten eats a lot and has regular bowel movements. In addition, the animal has an active and cheerful behavior.
Step 3
It should be noted that after purchasing a kitten, you do not need to immediately go to the clinic and do all kinds of vaccinations. It is best to wait a few days, because an animal, like a person, needs time to adapt to a new place of residence. During this period, the animal may already be ill with an infectious disease in a latent form. If you neglect this simple rule, then the effectiveness of such a vaccination will be zero, you can harm the kitten's immunity.
Step 4
It should also be remembered that 8-10 days before vaccination, the kitten must undergo a course of treatment or prevention of worms, otherwise the vaccination can harm the health of the kitten.
Step 5
For vaccination, the pet must be taken to the veterinary clinic, where a doctor will examine him and decide whether he can be vaccinated. After the necessary vaccinations are made, the animal will be under the supervision of doctors for another 20 minutes. This is necessary in order to prevent possible allergic reactions to the vaccine in time.
Step 6
There is no need to be afraid if after the first vaccination the kitten is lethargic and sleepy for several days, refuses to run and eat, and will mostly sleep. This is a completely natural reaction to the vaccine. However, subsequent vaccines should not affect the behavior of the pet in any way, otherwise it should be immediately shown to the doctor. You also need to know that the second vaccination is done 14–21 days later from the first vaccine, in no case earlier.
Step 7
Both the first vaccine and the second must be administered with identical drugs. After the first vaccination, the kitten's owner will be issued a pet's veterinary passport, where vaccination marks will be made. In addition, the data on the owner and the animal will be entered into a general vaccination log kept in the clinic itself.
