Some biologists believe that the first hairless dogs appeared in Africa, a country with a very hot climate. From this, the hair of the dogs and disappeared.
For a long time, these animals were considered sick, so they were not bred. By 1966, this breed had practically disappeared, only a few individuals remained, which were brought to the UK. It was this country that developed the first standard for the Chinese crested dog, which is why they are considered the founders.
Hairless dog breeds are found on all continents except Australia. There they have existed for centuries. Mexico, China, Turkey, Peru, Ethiopia, Paraguay, Argentina and the Philippines have their own local hairless dogs.
Skin color can be pink or black, mahogany, blue, lavender or copper. Color - solid or spotted. The eyes are dark brown or black. The ears are set low. Its growth reaches 30-33 cm.
Dogs of this breed never show their tongue when they are hot. Their skin is covered with sweat glands, with the help of which animals cool and more easily tolerate the heat. They need special care, as they have very delicate, thin and smooth skin. The Chinese Crested does not tolerate direct sunlight, cold and dampness. Therefore, after each bathing, it is recommended to lubricate the skin of a naked dog with oil or cream with vitamin E, since after water procedures the dog will lick itself. In the cold season in Russia, the dog will need additional clothing to protect it from hypothermia.
Dogs are unpretentious in food. They eat any meat products and with great pleasure absorb fruits and vegetables (bell peppers, cucumbers, tomatoes, carrots, strawberries, pears, etc.)
The Chinese Crested are not as pampered as they seem at first glance. Although they very quickly become attached to people, expressing their loyalty to the owner.
