Instructions

Step 1

Pay attention to the size of the dog. Yorkshire Terrier is one of the smallest breeds. The weight of an adult dog should not exceed 3.1 kg, the height at the withers can be no more than 23 cm. The Yorkshire Terrier has a compact and graceful build. Despite their diminutive size, this breed often has an important gait and an emphatically proud posture.

Step 2

Yorkshire Terrier is a long-haired breed. Long hair is parted from nose to tip of tail and falls off evenly on the sides in straight strands. Wool is similar in structure to human hair. Yorkshire Terriers have no undercoat, the hairs are soft and smooth to the touch, and with proper care, they are also shiny. These dogs do not shed. Due to the peculiarities of their coat, Yorkshire Terriers practically do not cause allergies.

Step 3

This breed is characterized by a single color. The hair on the head should be a deep golden brown color, a reddish tint is also acceptable. From neck to tail, the Yorkshire Terrier has a coat of black or dark steel bluish. On the chest of such a dog, you can see the shirt front of a reddish-brown hue. All brownish hairs have different intensity of color along the length, at the roots they are the darkest, and gradually lighten towards the ends.

In show dogs, the coat reaches the floor. Animals that do not participate in exhibitions, as a rule, are cut more or less short. Long "bangs" of Yorkies are often tucked into a small ponytail at the crown, which is fastened with an elastic band or hair clip.

Step 4

Yorkshire Terriers have a small and neat head with small pointed ears that are covered with short and thick hair. The nose is black, the visible skin of the eyelids is dark. The eyes are dark, of medium size, not protruding. Yorkshire terriers are popular, with a "baby-face" muzzle. These dogs are characterized by large eyes and a shortened front of the skull. These features give the muzzle a naive, childishly surprised expression.

Step 5

Yorkies have strong, straight legs with black claws. The tail was docked in show dogs until 2003. Currently, this is not a requirement, therefore, Yorkshire Terriers with a long tail, covered with dark gray-blue hair, prevail.

Step 6

Yorkshire Terriers have a wonderful character. Despite their tiny size, these dogs are curious, courageous and tireless. They are friendly to children, strangers and other dogs.
