Water procedures are useful not only for people, but also for birds. This is especially true in hot weather. It also happens that your bird gets dirty - and then it definitely cannot do without a refreshing shower!
Instructions
Step 1
Water moisturizes the skin and feathers, which, in turn, prevents dryness and fragility. Also, the constant opportunity to swim allows the bird to avoid heatstroke during the hot season.
Step 2
It is best if the bird is used to taking water procedures on its own. To do this, from the first days of your pet's arrival in the house, a bathing suit is installed in the cage. The water in it should be at room temperature, always clean (it is recommended to change the water in the bathing suit at least once every two days). If necessary, your pet will climb into the water itself and splash with pleasure.
Step 3
If the bird ignores the bathing suit or its feathers are heavily soiled, then use the shower. Experts advise you to remove the feeders and drinkers from the cage, take the cage to the bathtub and turn on the shower so that part of the cage is under water. Thus, the bird itself can crawl under the stream of water.
Step 4
There are situations when a bird categorically refuses to swim on its own. Then you can carefully take the bird in your hands, take it to the bath and, carefully pouring it with a shower at room temperature, rinse the dirt. It is not recommended to use shampoo.
Step 5
You can also try teaching your bird to wash with a spray bottle. To do this, place the sprinkler closer to the cage, let the bird get used to its appearance. Then gradually start puffing at the bird. Do this gradually. For example, today they sprayed once, tomorrow two times. Thus, gradually bring the plumage until completely wet.
Step 6
Take care of proper moisture removal from the feather cover. To do this, gently take the wet pet in your hands, wrap it with a soft towel. As soon as it gets wet, replace it with dry one. Do not rub the bird - this will only damage its feathers. After you get out the excess moisture, release your pet into a clean cage and let it dry. Make sure that at this moment the room is warm and there are no drafts, as a wet bird catches cold very quickly.
