Step 1
The blue whale is the largest animal that has ever existed on planet Earth. Its length is about 30 m, and its mass often exceeds 150 tons. Blue whales are distributed practically throughout the entire world ocean. They are under protection because their number is very small - only about 10 thousand individuals. These disappointing data are explained by the intensive hunt for whales, because a huge amount of meat and fat can be obtained from one carcass. Slow natural growth also contributes to the extinction of whales.
Step 2
The bush, or African, elephant is the largest land-dwelling animal. The height of males can reach 3 m, the length of the body is 7 m, and the weight is 6 tons. The trunk of African elephants has a length of about 1.5 meters and an impressive weight (about 135 kg). The female elephant is much smaller. Savannah elephants predominantly live in Africa. They are very intelligent animals. In ancient times, people used elephants as a means of transportation; elephant power was very useful for household needs. Today, elephants help people in carrying out tourist excursions, sport hunting. The life expectancy of animals is quite long - 65-70 years, of which 10-12 years are in childhood. For centuries, people have exterminated elephants for their meat, skins, and tusks. Back in 80 of the last century, African elephants were on the verge of extinction, but humanity changed its mind. Since 1988, when hunting for animals was banned and specialized reserves began to be created, the number of elephants has increased greatly.
Step 3
The giraffe is the tallest animal in existence. Adult males reach 6 m in height, with a long neck taking up a third of the growth. The weight of the giraffe is about 1 ton. The stride length is 6-8 m. In addition to the truly enormous body size, the giraffe also has the largest heart muscle. Its weight is over 10 kg. This is explained by the fact that it has to pump blood to a height of about 3 meters up. Giraffes live in the African savannas. They are herbivores, and their long necks help them easily get plant food from trees.
Step 4
The Australian saltwater crocodile is the world's largest reptile. The male can reach 7 meters in length and weigh up to 2 tons. Such crocodiles usually live in swamps, lagoons and deltas, but they can also go ashore at a distance of about 100 km from the coast. The saltwater crocodile is a very aggressive predator. Its main diet is made by monkeys, kangaroos, wild bears. Several cases of attacks on a person are registered every year.
