The Scottish cat breed is now popular thanks to its distant relatives - British cats. And although these are completely different breeds of cats, they are in the same breed group and have similar characteristics. Scottish cats are cheaper than British cats, and if you want a teddy bear for real money, Scottish cats are just what you need.

Scottish cats differ in the type of ears. There are cats with erect ears - striate, and also "lop-eared" - fold. The latter are popular due to the unusual shape of the ears. Although this structure arose as a result of mutation and was considered a defect, it is now a stand-alone breed.

Ears of "lop-eared" cats are flattened to the head, they are wide and hang down and forward. Due to the shape of the ears, these cats have a slightly surprised look, wide-set eyes and a flat skull shape.

When choosing a kitten, pay attention to the coat. It should be short, tight, healthy looking. Various colors of fur are allowed from monochromatic to bicolor and tabby. A healthy kitten's coat should be soft to the touch, shiny, without bald patches and rolled spots.

Scottish people have a fairly large and developed skeleton. They have a large head on a short neck, muscular legs, and a lean physique.

A kitten is taken no earlier than two months, some breeders give it away at the age of three months, after the first vaccination. The breeder is obliged to give you recommendations on the maintenance and nutrition of the kitten, as well as to issue documents confirming its origin. Such papers are issued by club breeders, but the price of kittens in such places is much higher.
Step 7
When choosing a kitten, be sure to look at its mother cat. She must have a healthy appearance and all the characteristics of the breed. The responsible breeder will show both a photo of the father and documents confirming the cat's pedigree, if any. Feel free to ask for a mom cat's veterinary passport with vaccination marks. All this guarantees that a healthy animal will be sold to you.
