To wean a cat from this habit, you should not yell at him or beat him with slippers and poke his nose into the puddle. Most likely, the cat will understand your actions just the opposite: if they poke their nose into a puddle, then this is where you need to mark.
Step 2
In the wild, not all cats from the family mark the territory, but only the main cat. Since there is a strict principle of hierarchy in feline families, and younger cats do not dare to mark the leader's territory, this will be regarded as a rebellion and severely punished. Accordingly, in the apartment you must make it clear to the cat that he is not the main cat here, but you.
Step 3
If you catch a cat doing this inappropriate activity, then you will have to take drastic measures. First of all, lift up your prankster, taking by the scruff of the neck. The cat will certainly hold its tail and assume the pose of a small kitten. He will definitely start to break free, so try to hold him as tightly as possible.
Step 4
Now you have to turn on your imagination and do three things. First, you need to hiss like a cat. To do this, you need to practice in advance so that it comes out as believable as possible. Secondly, you need to hit the cat in the face the way cats do during their fights. Observations are also useful to do this. And thirdly, you need to get angry and imagine yourself as the main cat, which they want to remove from the throne.
Step 5
All three of these actions must be done at the same time. Just don't hit the cat too hard - measure your strength! Defend your territory until the cat starts to turn away and squeak. Only then will you win. Remember that the principle of the wild is at work here - the one who first looks away will lose. Therefore, try to look the cat directly in the eyes and preferably more closely.
Step 6
After the cat gives up, you need to immediately wash off its tags and put your own. Of course, you don't need to do this in the same way as the cat. Simply wipe down the area with things that smell like you, like worn socks, a sweaty T-shirt, or a perfume that you use frequently.
Step 7
Most likely, these lessons will have to be repeated several times. But then the cat will begin to perceive you as a very large, main cat and will no longer dare to mark the owner's territory, but will behave like an obedient member of the feline clan.
