To the teeth The method is more complex, but accurate. By the teeth you can find out the age of both an adult cat and a small kitten. Take a closer look at your pet, in particular, pay attention to the front incisors. If their crown is with an uneven edge, as well as if the surface is worn evenly, then the cat is 6 years old. At the age of 10, the cat's teeth begin to fall out - this is easy to notice. If we look more precisely, then: - at 1 month - the cat's milk teeth erupt;
- at 2 months - milk teeth are replaced by permanent ones;
- by 1, 5 years - erasure of the central lower incisors;
- by 2, 5 years - erasure of the middle lower incisors;
- at 3, 5 years - the upper central incisors are subject to abrasion;
- by 4, 5 years - the middle upper incisors are erased;
- 5 years - erasure occurs on the canines;
- 6 years - the extreme upper incisors are erased;
- at 7-8 years old - there are changes in the transverse-oval rubbing surface in the central and middle lower
incisors;
- 9 years old - the same thing happens with the upper incisors;
- by 10-12 years - the central incisors fall out;
- by 12-16 years of age, the cat already loses all its incisors;
When determining the age of a cat by the teeth, one should take into account the conditions of its life. The abrasion of the incisors is slower, and the teeth fall out later if the cat lives in favorable conditions.
Step 3
Years of a cat and a person Trying to correlate the age of a cat and a person, take the proportion of 7 to 1, i.e. multiply the cat's age by seven to get the measure of human age. This is not true. The years of a cat and a person can be correlated to each other, but the calculation method will be different from year to year. So 15 lived years of a person is only 1 year of life in cats. The second year of a cat's life is 24 years of human life. From the age of three to 12 years, 4 years should be added annually. That is, at 12 years old, in terms of human age, the cat will be 64 years old. In the future, every next year after 12 will be equal to three years of human life. So, the old age of a cat begins after 8 years. But with careful care and feeding, your pet can please you 12-16 years old.
