How often is it necessary to bathe a decorative rabbit, and is it necessary at all? These animals are naturally clean, because they regularly groom themselves like cats. Being in the water not only disrupts the natural fatty coat of their fur, but can also lead to colds. Therefore, bathing a rabbit is appropriate only as a last resort.
It is necessary
a bowl of warm water, flea shampoo for decorative animals, dry towels
Instructions
Step 1
Many owners prefer to wipe rabbits with warm towels moistened with warm water instead of bathing, or wash their paws if they become dirty. The bathing procedure itself can only harm the pet. Rabbits are naturally shy, and water and shampoos destroy the fatty coating of their fur, which leads to its loss. To keep the coat clean, it is much more effective to regularly comb your pet with special brushes. But if the animal has fleas, bathing cannot be avoided.
Step 2
Pour warm water into a basin and stock up on dry, slightly heated towels on the radiator. Place the rabbit in a basin and very gently wet it with water. Never use a shower. Make sure that no water gets into your ears. This threatens with otitis media, which is hardly cured in pets. Apply a special flea shampoo (for rabbits or other decorative animals) and wash it off as thoroughly as possible.
Step 3
Don't expect the animal to like the bathing procedure. It is possible that he will pull out or bite. Act as quickly as possible, beware of catching a cold for your pet. At the same time, try not to move too sharply or make noise, so as not to scare the animal even more. For such a responsible operation as bathing a rabbit, it is better to involve a "partner". After washing, dry your rabbit well with warm dry towels. Use a few towels to dry it as dry as possible. Do not let it loose until you are sure that the coat is dry.
Step 4
In order for the rabbit hair to stay clean as long as possible, it is necessary not only to constantly comb the pet, but also to keep order in its aviary or cage. Wash the cage at least once a week, the feeders and drinkers two to three times a week, and change the toilet regularly. Remember to use disinfectants when washing.
