If you have a cat, and you decide to have another animal, before bringing it into the house, you need to prepare a little. You can make friends with a cat and a cat. There is a strategy by which you can help the animals get along with each other. Remember that for them the appearance of a new beast in the house is a real shock. Making friends with cats is not easy.
Instructions
Step 1
Before bringing a new animal into the house, prepare a place for it. It should be possible to place cats in different rooms to completely isolate them from each other. If you only have one room at your disposal, you may need to temporarily build small animal cages.
Step 2
When you bring a second cat home, do not introduce it to an existing cat right away. Put them in different rooms. Cats can smell each other and get used to it. After a while, you can swap them, or just change their rugs.
Step 3
It's time to introduce the cat and the cat. Bring a spray of cold water and sturdy gloves or a blanket in case you need to drag out new neighbors. Let the host cat into the room with the guest cat. If they are same-sex, then, most likely, they will be hostile to each other. A cat and a cat, even neutered, will show more interest than aggression at the first meeting.
Step 4
If the animals get into a fight, immediately spray them lightly with a spray bottle and drag them to different rooms. If you are lucky and the cats did not show open aggression towards each other, this is good, but you cannot immediately leave them alone. Watch the animals constantly. Do not leave them alone for the first 2-3 weeks.
Step 5
Even if the animals have been living together for several weeks and do not growl at each other, at times you can still hear howling - they sort things out, showing who is the boss. If the matter is limited to "scandal", but does not come to a fight, then everything is in order. However, at the first sign of a showdown, immediately use a spray bottle and place the cats in different rooms.
Step 6
If the cat and the cat managed to fight, then scare them. Shout lightly at them - express your displeasure to the cats. Animals understand intonation very well.
