Instructions
Step 1
Before buying a pig, think about where you will keep it? To do this, it is necessary to allocate a separate, bright, clean and dry room, the temperature in which is not lower than 20 degrees Celsius. Better if it is built of wood or brick. There should be no drafts in such a shed, otherwise you risk catching a cold to the piglet, and he may die from pneumonia. You need to spread straw on the floor, put a trough for food and a separate container for drinking next to it.
Step 2
Buy a pig by following a few guidelines. Pay attention to his appearance. A healthy animal has smooth pink skin, rounded sides, shiny movable eyes, and a curled tail. In addition, the purchase should be made in the warm season, preferably in the spring, so that the piglets are strong by summer.
Step 3
It is good if the animal has a long body, such individuals develop faster and grow better. If the piglet is short, subcutaneous fat begins to accumulate early.
Step 4
Healthy pigs always have a clean and dry tail, good appetite and even stiff bristles. Long hair on the back is a sign of the animal's ill health.
Step 5
Never take piglets from the same owner from the same litter. Inquire about the birth weight of the animal, as well as the developmental dynamics of the piglet at intervals of 10 days. Pigs usually bring litter twice a year. At 7-8 months, they already reach 100 kg of live weight.
Step 6
Piglets are omnivorous. You can purchase combined and voluminous feeds, give them food waste, plant foods such as beets, potatoes, carrots. Diversify the diet with meat and fish products. This contributes to the full provision of the piglets' body with minerals and vitamins.
Step 7
Give preference to corn, oats, barley. Protein foods include peas, which should also be offered to piglets from time to time.
Step 8
You can make a trough for feeding pets yourself. Inside it there should be three or four partitions, for different types of feeding, which can be used as bran, coal or acorns. This will serve as an excellent prevention of anemia. The container must be cleaned as it gets dirty.
Step 9
Water must be constant. Piglets are very thirsty, so they need to be given clean water 5-6 times a day to avoid intestinal disorders. They can be offered warm milk with a fat content of at least 6-8%. Then, you can give the grated raw carrots and beets. For two months of growing, 10 kg of succulent feed per piglet.
Step 10
In summer, you can feed beet and carrot tops, as well as clover. First, the grass is twisted through a meat grinder, and later finely chopped, mixing with other feed.
Step 11
Piglets can be released for a walk. Monitor the air temperature, avoid hypothermia of animals. In winter, outdoor exposure should be no more than 5 minutes per knock.
Step 12
Castrate boars, so they will grow better and consume less feed, in addition, they produce higher quality meat. This must be done upon reaching 40-50 days of age. Only a veterinarian should castrate, be sure to ask him if he has an appropriate license.
Step 13
If the piglet has diarrhea, give him acidophilus. Wash the animal and pat dry. In some cases, a piglet needs an operation to remove teeth, for example, when there are not 6-8 of them, as is normal at birth, but more, or they prevent him from grabbing the sow's nipple.
Step 14
Perhaps over time, pig breeding will become your hobby or grow into a family business. In any case, it is very profitable, since pork meat and lard, today, are in great demand among the population.
