In general, cats do not like clothes very much and try to take them off more often than dogs. But, if it's cold at home or you occasionally walk with your pet outside, try making your cat a warm vest or jacket. To knit a jacket for a cat, you need knitting needles, threads and a little patience.
It is necessary
- - knitting needles of a suitable size;
- - soft natural threads;
- - rubber;
- - a needle and thread.
Instructions
Step 1
Before starting work, check the knitting density, if it is 20 rows x 16 loops = 10x10 cm, then use the measurements below. If the density is different, adjust the recommended sizes proportionally.
Step 2
Start by doing the front of the cat sweater. Cast on 25 stitches on the needles and knit a few centimeters with an elastic band. To get a "elastic", that is, elastic knit, knit 1 front, then 1 purl, repeating the sequence.
Step 3
Having knitted a few centimeters with an elastic band (this is the "bottom" of the jacket, which will cover the cat's waist), knit the main fabric about 10 cm with the front satin stitch.
Step 4
To get sleeves, add a few centimeters (15-20 stitches) from each edge of the knit, the larger the increase, the longer the sleeve. In total, you will get about 60 loops on the needles. Knit 10 cm with an even cloth.
Step 5
In the center of the knit, make a cutout for the neckline. Carefully count the number of stitches on the needles and find the middle, mark it with colored thread. From it, in both directions, count an equal number of loops, for example, 10 loops.
Step 6
Close the selected loops and continue to knit a row. Turning, knit until closed loops and type with air loops exactly the amount that was closed plus 7-8 loops (so that the back is wider). Finish the row and knit further with the front fabric.
Step 7
After knitting 10 cm, close 18 loops on each side and knit another 10 cm. If you have a large animal, you can slightly symmetrically increase the width of this part. Then move on to knitting an elastic band and knit the elastic of the same width as at the beginning. Close the loops to maintain the elasticity of the fabric.
Step 8
Sew sleeve seams and side seams. On the neckline, cast on the loops and raise the collar, knit with the same elastic band as on the bottom of the product, then close the loops. It is better to pull in a lace or a weak elastic band in a row of strapping to ensure a snug fit of the collar.
