"Amoxicillin" is a semi-synthetic antibiotic that belongs to the group of penicillins. The drug has an active effect against gram-negative and gram-positive bacteria (Salmonella, Escherichia, Pasteurella, Staphylococcus).
Instructions
Step 1
Use "Amoxicillin" in dogs for the treatment of diseases caused by antibiotic-sensitive microorganisms: gastrointestinal diseases (enterocolitis, enteritis, gastroenteritis), respiratory diseases (bronchitis, rhinitis, bronchopneumonia), surgical diseases (inflammation of the joints, abscesses), diseases of the genitourinary organs (endometritis, urethritis, metritis, cystitis, pyelonephritis).
Step 2
To correctly calculate the dose of the drug, determine the weight of the dog. A single amount of "Amoxicillin" is 1 ml per 10 kg of animal weight. The maximum volume of the drug injected into one place should not exceed 20 ml.
Step 3
Determine the weight of a small dog using a balance. To do this, place it in a bag and weigh it. For an accurate result, weigh the empty bag and subtract its weight from the previous weighing.
Step 4
Find out the weight of your average dog using a bathroom scale. Pick up your pet and step on the scale. Memorize the result and weigh yourself without the dog. Calculate the difference between the first and second weighing - this will be the weight of the animal. Large breed dogs (weighing from 25 kg) are weighed on a floor scale, which is available in almost every veterinary clinic.
Step 5
Be sure to wash your hands before injecting the drug. Shake the ampoule, wipe the broken place with a cotton swab dipped in alcohol. After opening the ampoule, draw the medicine into a syringe. To remove the remaining air, lift the syringe with the needle up and push the plunger until drops of medication appear on the needle.
Step 6
Intramuscularly "Amoxicillin" is injected into the thigh muscle of the hind leg of the dog. Be sure to treat the selected place with a cotton swab dipped in alcohol. Inject strictly perpendicular to the skin, and insert the needle slowly and carefully.
Step 7
Apply a subcutaneous injection to the dog's withers. To do this, take the syringe in your right hand, and with your left, pull the skin at the base of the withers until a crease is formed. Then inject. The needle should enter the skin at an angle. "Amoxicillin" should be administered slowly.
Step 8
Inject the drug subcutaneously or intramuscularly once a day for 5 days. In animals, allergic reactions may occur, which disappear after the end of the use of the product. If you have a severe allergy, give your pet antihistamines and corticosteroids. At the end of the antibiotic course, treat the dog with probiotics.
