In order not to be mistaken with the choice of a chicken breed of high egg production, you need to know which of them develop better in a private backyard. There are breeds that run well even in closed breeding.

Chicken has long been very popular in peasant farms. Breeding this bird solves two important tasks: providing the population with meat and eggs. Therefore, all breeds of chickens are divided into three main categories: meat, meat and egg and egg. Among the latter, there are those that are distinguished by the highest egg production and are often specially bred by breeders to perform this task.

Leading breeds of egg chickens for indoor breeding

If you want to get your own mini-farm, the main focus of which is getting eggs, you need to pay attention to laying hens. It is they who are distinguished by the highest egg production. Quite a few breeds are distinguished among these birds, but practice has shown that the choice should be guided by one of the two main directions of breeding: either for a private backyard, or for industrial production. This recommendation is due to the fact that some breeds do better in some conditions, others in others. For closed breeding of chickens with high egg production (farms, poultry farms), it is recommended to take breeds that tolerate confined conditions well: Tetra SL, Shaver 579, Isobraun and Loman Brown.

Chickens with high egg production for a private backyard

For a small peasant farm, the following breeds of laying hens will be the best choice: Adler, Moscow, Black, Zagorskaya, Leghorn, Brown, Salmon, Jubilee. These chickens are unpretentious to feed, caring for them is simple, they are distinguished by a peaceful character, good hens. On average, any laying hen produces about 240 eggs per year. But there are also higher rates.

Those birds that produce white eggs are distinguished by the best egg production. Among them it is worth paying attention to Leghorn chickens. It is specially bred to accomplish this task. However, by nature, these birds are restless, so caring for them will be quite difficult until the owner understands the nuances of the behavior of the pets and makes contact with them. Brown birds are calmer. Despite the slightly lower egg production, most breeders breed them.

Any laying hen produces the maximum number of eggs during the first year of life. Further, it begins to gain weight and it can be transferred either to the category of those that are consumed, or left in the role of a hen (if the bird has a tendency to hatch eggs). Therefore, in peasant farms every 2-3 years, most of the hens are replaced with a new one.
