Instructions

Step 1

If the puppy does not want to eat for the first time after it was brought into the house, you should call the breeder and consult what kind of food the puppies were fed with - maybe you just did not guess with the diet. In the case when everything was good before, and the puppy always ate with appetite, it is worth taking a closer look at his behavior. If he is lethargic, his nose is hot and dry, he lies more and his behavior has changed radically, he should be shown to the veterinarian as soon as possible - perhaps these are the first signs of a serious illness. Worm infestation can also be the reason for the lack of appetite. The sooner you react to this, the better.

Step 2

In some cases, banal overeating is the reason for refusing food. If you, as a loving owner, constantly increase the weight of the portions of food you give your dog, and even do not remove the bowl from feeding to feeding, the puppy may simply stop feeling hungry. You need to feed him correctly. Before eating the puppy, it is better to walk and play outdoor games with him during a walk. When you come home, put the recommended amount of food in a bowl, the dog does not need to give more food than the norm. The bowl of food should be in the feeding area for no longer than 15 minutes - if the puppy is hungry, this will be enough time for him to eat whatever you put in. If he refuses to eat, and even makes attempts to play with food, then he is not hungry and the bowl should be removed before the next feeding.

Step 3

During the next feed, you should give him the same feed without changing its composition. When the puppy has eaten everything in the bowl, or at least part of the serving, this will be a signal for you to reduce the amount of food placed in the bowl. Strictly observe the norm, guided by such parameters as the weight of the puppy and its age. Also adjust the number of feedings in accordance with the age of the dog, gradually reducing them to 1-2 to one and a half years.

Step 4

Even small puppies may already have boundless affection for family members. Therefore, the absence of one of them can also cause the puppy to refuse to eat. Prolonged depression accompanied by poor appetite, in some cases, can last from several days to a week. But more often than not, for the dog to start eating well again, a long walk with physical activity and skipping one or two feedings is enough. Changing the diet or adding new foods to it can also be effective. Try to cook his usual porridge with other cereals, add different vegetables to it, replace meat with fish and vice versa.
