Step 1
When choosing a drug for treatment, be careful, many of them cause allergies and even poisoning. In this disease, aversectin ointment is very suitable - it is harmless and inexpensive. Apply the ointment several times in a thin layer on the affected skin, avoid contact with eyes, beak and nostrils. For a complete recovery, you will need to carry out 3-4 procedures with an interval of five days. You need to apply the ointment in the evening, at which time the parrots are less active. Treat parrot feathers as well; for this procedure, the preparation "Arpalit", produced in the form of an aerosol, is well suited.
Step 2
In the absence of an ointment, use petroleum jelly for treatment. It does not allow oxygen to pass through and the tick dies, however, its eggs may remain alive, and in this case, a relapse of the disease is possible. Treatment with vaseline oil is longer, but unlike vegetable oils, it does not cause allergies. Apply petroleum jelly twice daily until the bird is fully healed.
Step 3
Do not let your parrot out of the cage, as the mite can spread to rooms. If one cage contains several parrots at the same time, the patient should be quarantined in a separate cage. Monitor healthy birds at all times.
Be sure to disinfect the cage before starting treatment and after the pet has recovered. Do not forget about swings, perches, mirrors, drinking cups and other items in the cage, all of them must be thoroughly processed, for example, they can be thoroughly washed and doused with boiling water.
Step 4
During treatment, add vitamins to the parrot's diet, be sure to follow the diet. During this period, it should be as diverse as possible. After treatment, remove the corneous crust from the affected areas; be sure to treat all instruments used for this procedure with a special solution or boil for 5-7 minutes.
