A sharp drop in room temperature, the slightest draft and insufficiently warm drinking water are the most common reasons that cause a disease such as a cold in parrots. If you experience a runny nose, tremors, increased drowsiness and decreased activity of the parrot, you should immediately start treating your pet to prevent complications.
It is necessary
- - infrared or ordinary table lamp;
- - tincture of chamomile with honey;
- - eucalyptus and menthol oil.
Instructions
Step 1
Move the cage with the parrot to a warm place where it will not be affected by indoor drafts. The temperature in the room should be at least 22 and not higher than 25 degrees.
Step 2
The best medicine for a parrot for a cold is warmth. It will be good if you use an infrared lamp. If you do not have one, you can treat a parrot with an ordinary 60-watt table lamp.
Step 3
Be sure to cover part of the cage with some kind of dense cloth. The parrot should be able to hide in the shade if it gets hot. The lamp is capable of heating the air temperature in the cage up to 33 degrees.
Step 4
Place the parrot in a cage and place a lamp at least 30 cm away from it.
Step 5
Warm the parrot in this way for one hour at least 3 times a day.
Step 6
Instead of water, pour chamomile tincture with honey or special vitamins into the drinker. This will help the parrot recover faster.
Step 7
If the disease is accompanied by discharge from the nostrils, coughing and a little heavy breathing, the parrot should also be treated with inhalations, lasting 20 minutes and at least 2 times a day.
Step 8
Take a teacup, pour 5 drops of eucalyptus and menthol oil into it. Pour boiling water over all this for a little more than a quarter of the container. Place it near the cage, which, together with the container, must be covered with a thick cloth. Repeat this procedure for 5 days.
Step 9
After recovery, for another week, give the parrot special vitamin preparations, 5 drops a day. They can be diluted in warm drinking water or dripped directly into the beak.
Step 10
If the treatment does not help and you notice a deterioration in the condition of the parrot, stop self-medication and go to the veterinarian.
