The most important thing to know about parrots is that in nature they are very freedom-loving birds and, of course, keeping parrots in captivity can negatively affect their well-being. Therefore, the choice of a cage must be approached with all responsibility.
Instructions
Step 1
Equip the cage with all kinds of aviaries, perches and other devices, thanks to which the parrot will have the opportunity to play. Do not forget that the same perches will need to be placed in the rooms of your apartment, since the parrot needs to move, and constant presence in the cage can lead to sad results.
Step 2
Remember that in no case should you buy floor cages for keeping a parrot, because parrots only high from the ground feel safe.
Step 3
Pay attention to the shape of the cage. Often stores offer cages that are too narrow for keeping a parrot, in such cages the bird is unlikely to be able to move freely. But parrots are quite active birds and, being in an uncomfortable and cramped cage, can become more aggressive. If we talk about the approximate size of the cage, then in general it is better to choose one whose width is about 80 cm, but here it is important to take into account that the area of the "floor" and "ceiling" of the cage is large enough, since parrots move mainly horizontally and the cage can be not even very high.
Step 4
Choose the correct location for the cage in your apartment. It is better to place the cage where all family members most often gather, since it is extremely important for a parrot to feel that he belongs to the family. In addition, it will help him feel more protected, and it will be much easier for you to deal with his upbringing, because your pet will always be in sight.
Step 5
Consider an option for creating additional space for a parrot, such as an open-air aviary. To create it, you can use a balcony or veranda. Thanks to the presence of such an aviary, your pet will be able not only to breathe fresh air, but also to relax from the company of people.
Step 6
Approach responsibly and seriously when choosing a cage, as some species of parrots are hard to experience lack of freedom. Therefore, try to create comfortable conditions for your pet.
