For a pet to live a long, healthy life, it needs to be properly fed. Food should be complete and nutritious, low-fat and suitable for the dog in age, activity and size.
Small breed dogs are demanding for proper care. They have a sensitive gastrointestinal tract, so you cannot feed such pets with food from the table. "Natural" or drying
Cynologists disagree about which feed is still healthier: natural or dry. Usually, the owner stops for drying if there is no time to prepare fresh food for the pet every day. In this case, you need to ensure that the feed pellets are no more than one centimeter in diameter. All ingredients must be strictly tailored to the needs of the small dog. If there is a noticeable excess of fats, carbohydrates, then it is better to refuse such food.
Toy Terriers, Pekingese, Yorkies, Shih Tzu, Papillons, Japanese Chins and other babies are very sensitive to food in the first months after the transition from mother's milk to self-feeding. It was during this period that all the features of the functioning of the digestive system were laid. The diet requires the presence of low-fat dairy products, meat (beef), sea fish and vegetables.
Naturally, meat and fish must be certified - this is evidence of the quality of the products. If there is a suspicion that the dog may become infected with helminths or other parasites, then you can pour boiling water over the meat or keep it in it for 2-3 minutes. Natural food, like drying, should be finely chopped.
Features of dry food
Usually there is nothing useful or necessary for a small dog in cheap jars and bags. In order not to harm your pet, it is better to turn to professional feed lines:

• Royal Canin and others.
Manufacturers offer dry food, canned food and delicacies for small breed dogs of different ages. If the product is of high quality, then, in addition to the necessary nutrients, it also contains vitamins and minerals.
Your pet should not regularly overeat drying, otherwise it is fraught with constipation, a violation of the intestinal microflora, and as a result, lethargy, heart problems and a short life of the dog. For animals with allergies, special foods have been developed that do not cause rashes, hair loss and other unpleasant reactions of the body.
