A cat climbing onto the owner's lap and performing a "massage" is a familiar phenomenon for cat breeders. Sometimes it’s nice, but sometimes it’s completely out of place. Not everyone knows the reason for this behavior.
Those who have a cat almost never wear expensive clothes at home. The animal loves to climb on the owner's lap and "trample", that is, massage with its paws, while not always hiding its claws. In such conditions, you should not wear clothes at home, which are a pity to tear.
Instinctive behavior
Feline "trampling" begins when a person takes a sitting or lying position. If the cat is in good spirits, it immediately jumps onto its knees and begins the "massage". Most hosts love it. But the animal must be monitored, because the movements become a little more intrusive over time, and the claws begin to dig into the body.
This behavior is instinctive for a cat. Regardless of how many years a cat has lived in the world, a pet is still partly a kitten. Unlike homeless relatives, she does not need to worry about food, lodging or anything else, she does not have any worries, so full-fledged growing up does not work. A kitten needs a mother, so the cat is looking for a replacement for her in the face of a human.
The kitten goes to bed only next to its mother. Likewise, an adult cat is laid next to a person. And he jumps on his knees, as soon as the owner sits down. If at the same time they start stroking her, she will perceive it as if licking has begun.
Why are the movements of cat paws "trampling"
The cat performs "trampling" rhythmically, similar to the way a kitten touches its mother's belly with its paws while sucking milk. These movements cause milk to flow to the nipple. At the same time, the kitten also rumbles loudly with pleasure, and so that the milk obtained during sucking is better digested, it begins to intensively separate saliva. The cat can simply jump onto its knees, but without performing the "stomping" movements. This is a sign that the pet has boundless trust in the owner. Rumbling is a kind of ritual.
Therefore, the cat stomps on the owner's knees - this is how it begs for additional affection. If the animal is constantly driven off its knees, it will simply be offended and will stop approaching you. But about the vengefulness of an offended cat is known to all cat breeders - she is able to start shitting anywhere, and it will be quite difficult to wean her from this. Cats are offended because the mother in such situations did not drive the kitten away from herself, and they expect the same from a person.
Another reason cats may trample on something soft, such as a pillow or couch, is because they want to go to bed. Still, cats by their origin are rather wild animals, in nature they tried to create something like a nest. Now the cat sleeps on a soft rug, or even on the owner's bed, but the instinct of "nesting" remains.
