The health of a captive bird requires cleanliness. Failure to comply with the hygiene of the cage and equipment threatens the development of diseases, the appearance of parasites, in advanced cases - the death of the bird. In addition to routine daily cleaning of the bedding and washing of the feeders and drinkers, it is necessary to regularly wash and clean the entire cage.
It is necessary
- - brush
- - spray gun
- - laundry soap
- - potassium permanganate
- - infusion of chamomile or wormwood
Instructions
Step 1
General cleaning of the parrot cage should be done at least once a week. Small ones are convenient to wash by placing on the bottom of the bath; if your cage is large and does not fit in the bathtub, it can be washed right in the room on plastic wrap.
Step 2
Remove from the cage all toys, perch, feeder, pull out tray and grate. All this will need to be washed with soap or with a solution of baking soda and brushed, then rinsed with very hot water and dried separately.
Step 3
If you wash the cage in the bathroom, it is enough to water it from the shower and clean it thoroughly with a brush and laundry soap. In the room, the process becomes somewhat more complicated - spray the cage with hot water from a spray bottle so that adhering droppings and food residues are easier to lag behind, wipe the rods with a soapy rag, and then rinse off the remaining soap from them with a clean damp cloth.
Step 4
If you are disinfecting the cage, do not use chlorine-containing products - this can be dangerous for parrots. You can use a solution of potassium permanganate, an infusion of chamomile or wormwood (they can be purchased at a pharmacy).. Before disinfection, the cage will need to be dried or wiped dry. After you treat the cage with a manganese solution or other special agent, you will need to rinse it again with water or wipe it well with a damp cloth and then dry it, otherwise traces of chemicals remaining on the rods can lead to poisoning of the parrot. Strong agents should not be used with every cleaning - use them in extreme cases, for example, in a situation where parasites appear.
Step 5
Now you can place a tray with fresh filler in the cage, arrange perches, toys, containers for food and drink. All inventory must be thoroughly dried - excess moisture, getting into hard-to-reach places, can lead to the formation of mold and the development of diseases in your pet. When the interior of the cage is restored, return to the place of its inhabitant.
