Pregnancy in dogs from conception to delivery lasts an average of 63 days. An error of 2-3 days is related to the number of puppies being bred - if there are more than 3, the bitch will give birth earlier, and if there are 1-2 puppies, it can go a week. The first symptom of pregnancy, even before it becomes noticeable, is a change in the dog's behavior.

Instructions

Step 1

Almost immediately after fertilization, hormonal changes begin in the body of the bitch, which cannot but affect her behavior. Regardless of whether there is a real pregnancy or a false one, the character of the dog changes. She becomes calmer, begins to take care of herself, avoids sudden movements, becomes less active and more “peaceful”. Even a dog that used to attack its relatives begins to behave more cautiously, does not get involved in quarrels and, moreover, fights. Many owners note that their capricious darlings, having become pregnant, become affectionate and docile, often demand to be stroked, try to be around for more time. However, sometimes they can ask with a growl to be left alone.

Step 2

One and a half to two weeks after mating, when the embryos begin to attach to the walls of the uterus, the dog may develop toxicosis. Of course, she will not be able to tell you about this, but you will notice lethargy, decreased appetite, in some cases, like women, vomiting may be observed, especially in the morning or after sleep. Do not try to force the bitch to eat, but during this period it must be provided with fresh clean water, since liquid is also necessary for amniotic fluid, the amount of which begins to increase every day.

Step 3

By the middle of pregnancy, when nipple pigmentation has already begun, it becomes clear that replenishment should be expected. During this period, puppies can already press on the bladder, and the dog needs more frequent walks. By the third trimester of pregnancy, everything usually goes away. During this period, another problem begins - the dog often goes to the toilet "in a big way."

Step 4

Please note that before giving birth, 7-10 days before, the dog may refuse meat and even strong broth. This shouldn't scare you. Veterinarians believe that during this period meat should be removed from the diet altogether, since it can provoke eclampsia. If the dog has completely lost his appetite or, on the contrary, began to eat more, this is considered the norm in both cases. Do not physically burden the animal, reduce both the walking time and the distance you walk. However, the bitch herself at this time tries to stay closer to home and often rest during walks. A week before giving birth, the "four-legged mother-to-be" stops running altogether and only walks at a step.
