Parrots of all kinds are funny and cute pets. With patience and effort, they can be completely tame. But it is better to start education from an early age. Adult birds are naturally blessed with caution; it will take much more time and patience to tame them.
Instructions
Step 1
When you bring your new pet home, allow him to enter the crate himself from the carrier. Never let the parrot fly into the room. Otherwise, he will experience a lot of stress when you try to catch him and put him in place.
Step 2
Let the bird look around your new house. In the first days, do not strain it with increased attention, do not clean the cage, change water and food very carefully. The parrot must get comfortable, understand that his home is safe, that no one wants to harm him. At the same time, don't leave your pet all alone. You are somewhere nearby. Talk to the bird in a gentle and gentle voice. When changing water or giving food, say something in a soothing tone.
Step 3
The bird usually takes 2-3 weeks to adapt. If at this time you did everything right - did not frighten the parrot, communicated with him at a distance, then he will eventually show curiosity and want contact himself. One day you will come to the cage, and the pet will come closer to you, moving along the perch. Do not miss this important moment, be sure to encourage the parrot with a treat by carefully pushing it through the bars.
Step 4
When the bird begins to take the treat quite boldly, proceed to the next stage of taming - offer to take the treat from your hand. To do this, you need to very smoothly and slowly push your open palm into the cage. Soon, the parrot will not only take food from the hand, but also sit on it. Then you can gradually train him to sit on you outside the cage. Carefully remove your hand with the bird out. If she does not show concern and does not fly away, walk around the room a little, then put her back in the cage. Very soon, the parrot will learn to leave his home and come back himself, will fly around the apartment and land on your shoulders and arms. You just need to be patient, be affectionate, and regularly treat your pet with goodies.
