Ears in cats require special attention, even if the animal is healthy. Regular grooming helps to prevent or detect at an early stage the development of various diseases. Ears should be washed once a week.
It is necessary
- - veterinary products for cleaning animal ears
- - cotton pads or tampons (you can also use gauze wipes)
- - cotton swabs.
Instructions
Step 1
Place the cat in your lap or on any surface with its back to you. The lighting should be bright enough (carry out the procedure during the day in front of a window or turn on a table lamp). Fix the animal with your hand. Bend your ear back slightly so that you can see the ear canal. Examine the auricle carefully for dirt, redness, swelling and notice if there is an unpleasant odor.
Step 2
In some cat breeds, unwanted hairs grow in the auricle. They reduce air access to the ear canals, can contribute to the development of pathogenic bacteria and simply irritate the ear of the animal, causing discomfort. These hairs must be removed. To do this, treat your thumb and forefinger with talcum powder and carefully remove excess hairs, freeing up the ear canal. This can also be done with tweezers. Or you can trim them with a special electric trimmer.
Step 3
Lightly dampen a cotton swab with ear cleaner and gently dry your ear. A little bit of the product (the required number of drops is indicated in the instructions for use) drip into the ear canal, inserting the tip of the bottle just a few millimeters inside. Massage your ear at the base for about half a minute. Release the cat for a few minutes so she can shake her head.
Step 4
Now fix the cat again. Open your ear. Use a dry cotton swab to wipe off any debris from the ear surface. Use a cotton swab to clean your ear canal. Change the sticks until they no longer get dirty with the sulfur masses. Keep in mind that only the visible part of the ear can be cleaned with a cotton swab, otherwise you can deafen the cat or move the sulfur masses far inward. Clean your other ear in the same way. And do not forget to praise and treat the cat with something tasty at the end of such an unpleasant procedure for her.
