Cat owners usually forgive their pets a lot. And if the cat observes cleanliness and prefers to do his cat affairs on the toilet, the owner usually will not praise him. But the cat's cultural and hygienic skills largely depend on the owner, and it is necessary to train the cat to the toilet with special perseverance.
It is necessary
- Tray
- Old newspapers
Instructions
Step 1
Train your kitten to litter. A well-bred animal of any breed can do this and usually easily understands what is wanted from it. As soon as you notice that the cat, without your prompting, goes to the place where the litter box is, and then comes out with a satisfied look, start teaching it to the toilet.
Step 2
Place the litter tray as close to the toilet as possible. It is possible that this will have to be done gradually. Move the tray a few centimeters closer to the target after each use. Your goal in this case is the toilet seat.
Step 3
As soon as the kitten learns to do its thing in the tray in the new place, start placing newspapers or boards. Don't do it abruptly. It will be enough that after each use of the tray, you put several newspapers or one board. The tray should be a centimeter or two higher than it was before.
Step 4
When the litter box is at the same height as the toilet, see how freely the cat jumps into it. If it is still difficult for the kitten to climb that high, leave him alone and postpone further training until the baby grows up. If the cat is free to climb where it needs to - put the litter box directly on the toilet. Throw away newspapers or tablets. As a last resort, they can be removed where the cat cannot reach them.
Step 5
Let the cat descend onto the litter box several times. After that, remove the tray and hide so that the cat cannot find it. The cat will have no choice but to climb onto the toilet and do his thing. If he succeeds, the tray can be thrown away. But it is possible that it is at this stage that the cat will become stubborn, and you will have to repeat the last stage one or two more times. Put the litter box back on the toilet, let your pet go to the toilet, and remove the litter box again.
