The female parrot feeds her newborn chicks with goiter milk. The breadwinner of the female herself in the first days of the babies' life, as a rule, is the daddy parrot. Sometimes young female parrots refuse to feed their young with milk. In this case, taking care of the babies completely falls on the shoulders of their owners.
Instructions
Step 1
It is necessary to feed newborn chicks every 2-3 hours from 6 am to 11 pm. Babies need to sleep at night. Prepare liquid semolina or wheat porridge, cooked in milk, for feeding parrot chicks. Add to it a little sugar, dried chicken egg shells, crushed into powder, and fish oil (1 drop per teaspoon of porridge).
Step 2
The first 3-4 days of life of chicks it is better to feed them from an ordinary medical syringe, of course, without a needle. 3-5 ml of porridge for one feeding is enough for one cub.
Step 3
It is not necessary to add water to the chicks in the first days of their life, because the porridge they eat contains a sufficient amount of liquid. Although sometimes you can pamper your little ones with fruit or vegetable juice.
Step 4
Next, start teaching your little ones to feed from a regular teaspoon. At first, chicks, as a rule, take porridge from a spoon rather reluctantly. But getting used to this way of feeding, they themselves begin to open their mouths at the sight of a spoon.
Step 5
Take your time to transfer chicks of parrots to grain feed. It is recommended to do this only when the kids independently learn to sit on their owner's finger.
Step 6
Gradually teach small parrots to grain feed. To do this, cook a thicker porridge familiar to them. When the chicks get used to such food and learn to eat thick porridge on their own, start pouring a small amount of grain mixture into their feeder. Thus, the parrots will gradually get used to the grain, which is the food of these birds. Remember that when transferring parrot chicks to grain feed, a cup of water must be present in the cage next to the feeder.
Step 7
Be sure to put a jar filled with mineral food at the bottom of the cage with parrot chicks. It is necessary for babies for the proper development and growth of their skeleton. Use powdered chicken eggshells as a mineral supplement.
