Chickens are one of the most common types of birds that are bred in the household. Many chicken breeders know how uncomfortable it can be to walk around and collect eggs laid by their pets all over the yard. To prevent this from happening, it is necessary to create certain conditions for them, namely to equip the chicken coop with nests for layers. It is not difficult to build them, the main thing is to treat the work with full responsibility and take into account all the necessary recommendations.
It is necessary
- - a sheet of plywood or tes;
- - nails;
- - a hammer;
- - materials for bedding.
Instructions
Step 1
It is recommended to set up nests long before laying hens, as chickens must get used to them and lay their first egg there. Before moving on to building nests, choose their location. It should be comfortable and accessible for chickens. It is best to establish nests in the darkened part of the chicken coop, as birds prefer to retire during the laying period.
Step 2
Take a large piece of plywood or wood board and use it to make a large rectangular block for 6 hens. Then divide it with partitions. The size of each nest should be: length 30 cm, width 25 cm and height 30 cm - for hens of the egg breed, and if you keep chickens of the meat breed, the nests should be larger - length 40 cm, width 30 cm, height 35 cm.
Step 3
After that, make an entrance, the width of which is 20-25 cm, and the height is 25 cm. At the entrance, attach a small nut 5 cm high, it will prevent the eggs from rolling out of the nests. Also, be sure to attach a special shelf so that the bird can easily enter the nest.
Step 4
When the nests are ready, move on to laying bedding in them. For this, wood shavings, dry cutting of hay or straw are the best suited.
