The nest is one of the most important accessories for most caged bird species. Canaries in this case are no exception. Many females make their own nests, others lay eggs anywhere in their home, but most often the owners of these birds have to make special designs on their own.

Instructions
Step 1
Female canaries are quite capricious. Sometimes they do not show interest in the nests offered by the owner for a long time. In this case, you just need to wait, and if the eggs were laid at the bottom of the cage, then they must be carefully transferred to the right place.
Step 2
The base for the nest can be made from thin twigs or wire. This procedure is no different from weaving a regular basket. Thick ropes can also be used as material. This procedure is quite painstaking and requires certain skills.
Step 3
Any plastic container can be used as a base for the nest. For example, take a jar of cottage cheese or yogurt. Stock up on needles and thread. Cut out a blank from the burlap in the form of a circle and sew a cloth over the prepared container.
Step 4
If you are proficient in knitting or crocheting, then you can use your abilities to make a nest for canaries. Simply attach the blank in the form of a knitted "hat" to the wire bent into a ring.
Step 5
Pay attention to some important points. The canary nest should be at least 5 cm deep. This will allow the female to feel as comfortable as possible, and she will be able to hide from prying eyes. In addition, small chicks from such a structure will not be able to get out or fall out.
Step 6
The nest base is only half the work that needs to be done before the nest is ready. You can cover the structure with pieces of cloth, dry grass or other materials, but in this case, be prepared for the female to redo everything at her discretion. Your task is simply to offer the canary "building" materials, and the canary will make the nest itself.
Step 7
After fixing the nest on the cage rods, offer the female several options for the material for insulating the structure. This can be cloth, newspapers, dry grass, or thick thread. Do not remove the feathers of the bird itself for a while. She also uses them to build a nest.
