Like humans, pets can suffer from various diseases. Worms are one of the most common ailments. Their presence is not always noticeable. They cause exhaustion in cats, slow down the growth of young animals, and spoil the quality of the coat. The immunity of cats is weakened, giving access to infections. To prevent this from happening, it is recommended to regularly carry out deworming. One of the most popular drugs for this is Drontal.
Instructions
Step 1
The German company Bayer has developed a special Drontal for cats in its line of anthelmintics. It contains the active ingredients praziquantel and pyrantel embonate, which are effective against roundworms and tapeworms. One tablet "Drontal" is designed for 4 kilograms of animal weight.
Step 2
Weigh your cat. The easiest way to do this is as follows: take the animal in your arms and stand on the scale. Memorize the number, and then weigh yourself without the cat. Subtract the second result from the first, and you know the mass of the animal. Weighing a cat in this way is much easier than trying to keep it on the scale.
Step 3
Do not give pills to your cat on an empty stomach - this is a strong irritant to the intestines. For successful deworming, it does not matter at all whether the tablets are given to the animal before or after a meal.
Step 4
Calculate the required amount of the drug based on the weight of the animal. Drontal has an unpleasant taste, so do not crush the tablets with water. Take the cat in your arms (if necessary, ask someone from your family to help you), open its mouth and place the tablet on the root of the animal's tongue. Throwing her face up and stroking her throat will help induce a swallowing reflex.
Step 5
Crush the tablets and mix with a treat. Special canned food for cats is suitable, as it has a strong smell and taste. If you mix the tablet with regular food that you give your cat every day, the animal may simply refuse food.
Step 6
Deworming should be done regularly. If your cat is not in the habit of scouring the street for food or examining the contents of your trash can, two to three times a year will be sufficient. If you plan to knit an animal, be sure to deworm ten days before.
