Pekingese has a charming appearance and independent character. To keep this dog looking great and free of behavioral and health problems, take good care of it. Pekingese requires proper nutrition, leisurely walks and, of course, daily brushing of luxurious wool.

Step 1
Take care of your pet's health. From puppyhood, regularly vaccinate - they must be noted in the veterinary passport. Once every 3-4 months, carry out deworming, in the summer treat the dog's coat with preparations for fleas and ticks. This is especially important if the dog spends a lot of time in nature. An anti-flea collar will also be a good protection for your pet, and you need to change it regularly.
Step 2
Make the right diet for your pet. The easiest way to feed the Pekingese is prepared foods for small dog breeds. Do not limit yourself to dry food, diversify your diet with high-quality canned food. Make sure your pet always has clean water.
Step 3
Pekingese do not like long walks. In wet weather, they easily catch cold, and in hot weather, the animal can get heatstroke. Provide your dog with daily walks at a relaxed pace and purchase a litter box. In bad weather, the Pekingese will gladly use it. Please note that males need a special tray with a post.
Step 4
Monitor your eyes. Wipe them daily with a damp cotton swab to remove dust and dry crusts. If the Pekingese is constantly squinting, and tears are visible on the coat, this may indicate an infection or injury. Show your pet to your veterinarian.

Wipe the crease under the nose with a soft dry cloth or cotton pad. If the coat is damp in this area, dust it with baby powder.
Step 6
Check your Pekingese's ears regularly. If the inside is dry and clean, there is no need to wipe it down. If you notice dark crusts or purulent discharge, clean them with a cotton swab dipped in a special lotion, and then drip drops that destroy ear mites.
Step 7
The main concern of the Pekingese owner is related to his luxurious coat. Comb it daily with a massage brush, gently disassemble the tangles with your fingers and a comb with long, thin teeth. A very neglected mug can be neatly cut off, but note that this spoils the animal's appearance.
Step 8
Too long hair on the feet should be trimmed. Use the dog scissors to gently form a round "cushion". Trim your pet's claws regularly - this can be done with a special nail clipper.
Step 9
Don't get carried away with washing your dog. Frequent baths will make the coat look dull and tousled, and will deprive it of its shine. It is enough to wash the dog twice a year, the rest of the time limiting itself to local washing of the paws and fur on the belly that gets dirty during walks. Overalls made of waterproof fabric will help keep your fluffy coat clean.
