Cats are rarely prescribed medications in the form of tablets or suspensions. But for diseases of the gastrointestinal tract, for the prevention or treatment of helminthic invasions, it is necessary to give the medicine in this form.
Instructions
Step 1
Few representatives of the feline tribe will tolerate violence against themselves. If you need to give an anthelmintic, try tucking the tablet into a piece of minced meat and offering it to your pet. If your pet is sick, this method is not suitable, because most diseases deprive a cat of appetite.
Step 2
Prepare a towel, rounded tweezers, a non-slip surface at a comfortable level. All this may not be necessary if your cat has a docile and patient character. If not, secure the cat securely. You may need the help of a second person. If the cat breaks loose and scratches, swaddle him with a towel, leaving only his head outside.
Step 3
Pinch the pill with tweezers, holding it in your right hand. Left open the cat's mouth by clicking on the corners of the mouth. If you have an assistant who holds the cat by the scruff, it is more convenient to just pull on the skin on the lower jaw.
Step 4
Place the tablet on the root of the cat's tongue. Release your jaw and massage your throat with your thumb. Make sure the cat has swallowed the pill. Be careful not to push the pills too deep into the cat's throat! He may choke. If you just put the pill on your tongue, it will spit out. The tweezers will keep your fingers from being bitten.
Step 5
If you need to give a suspension, draw it into a syringe without a needle. Secure the cat on a non-slip surface or with a towel. Take the syringe in your right hand and the cat's head in your left. Lift it up slightly and insert the cannula of the syringe behind the pet's cheek. Inject the fluid slowly, observing the swallowing movements. If you enter too quickly or lift the muzzle up too much, the cat may choke.
