Pekingese are an indoor breed of dogs, the history of which dates back to ancient China, where they lived in the courtyards of emperors. Although the standard of this breed has changed a lot over the past decades, dogs are still distinguished by their independent character, self-reliance and stubbornness. They are charming, tactful and unobtrusive, they do not need special training, but you still need to raise a puppy from the first days of his appearance in your house.
Instructions
Step 1
We can say that aristocratic manners are characteristic of Pekingese from birth. The breed standard does not provide for the acquisition of working qualities, the main purpose of this dog is a companion. But the puppy must be taught the basic commands, and the stable psyche inherent in this breed will help their quick perception. Only an exaggerated possessive feeling can complicate the upbringing process, but it can also be overcome with love, affection or delicacy.
Step 2
Arm yourself with patience and try to never raise your voice or, moreover, hit the dog. If the relationship with the owner is aggressive, then the puppy will grow up stubborn, embittered, disobedient and apathetic. Enjoy the learning process, and your pet will respond to you with obedience and love, and the lessons themselves will give you both a lot of fun and enjoyable minutes.
Step 3
The puppy gets used to its place almost immediately. If, after eating and sleeping, you put him on the newspaper, then by three months he will do all his business only in a strictly designated place. This is very convenient, because you will be calm for him, even if you are late and do not have time to take him out for a walk.
Step 4
The puppy should have a permanent feeding place. Call him, pouring food, the command "To me", this will help him to quickly learn it. In two months, teach him this command, and you can work it out with a treat after three months, when the revaccination time has passed. During this period, teach your puppy to leash. At first, you can wear it for about five minutes two to three times a day while walking.
Step 5
When he is comfortable with the leash, teach him the command "No", reinforcing it with a stern voice and a slight jerk of the leash. You don't have to drive a Pekingese on a leash for a long time, it poses no danger to people. Walk with him to get used to street noise, other dogs and people. Do not rush to take him in your arms when he will show fear, it is better to stroke encouragingly, soothing. Walking will soon become a pleasure for him, but remember that they should not be too long - Pekingese are not adapted to overcome long distances.
Step 6
It is possible to punish a puppy with a stern voice only at the moment of committing a "crime", after a few minutes he will not remember what he has done in a puddle, and in no way will he associate the punishment with this act. Do not teach him to beg from the table, but you do not have to wean him from barking - the Pekingese is not an idiot. Love him and take care of him, this little ball of wool will become your most loyal friend, able to bravely protect you in case of the slightest danger.
