There are many different types of monkeys. They can be classified by different families. In Africa, baboons are widespread - animals that belong to the monkey family.
Baboon is also called "dog-headed monkey". This animal belongs to the order of primates, has several species, which include the baboon and hamadryas. The baboon has an elongated muzzle with large fangs. On the head, neck and shoulders, the hair is elongated. Animals have brightly colored sciatic corns. Males are twice as large as females.
The baboon eats varied. The diet includes insects, as well as small animals such as hares, tubers and roots, plant bulbs.
The animal is common in Africa. Habitat - at ground level, in the rocks, sometimes they can climb trees to hide from enemies. The life of these monkeys is not easy, they are always in search of food, they have to move long distances and always be on the lookout.
Baboons pose a danger to humans, despite the fact that they are the first to practically not attack. They are cautious animals, aggressively protecting themselves and their young. When attacking, they bite the enemy with their large fangs, and their hands help them to keep the victim.
Natural enemies are hyenas, cheetahs and lions. The approach of a predator is warned with a bark-type sound.
The baboon is about 7 months pregnant. Life expectancy in nature is 20 years, although in captivity there are cases of surviving up to 45 years.
