But the compressor makes as much noise as the fish react to it?
Does the noise interfere with the fish?
It is impossible to find out exactly how the fish in the aquarium relate to the fact that the compressor is noisy. Research on this issue has not yet been carried out. But it is known for certain that the lack of aeration is definitely harmful to them. Even if the aerator is a little noisy, the most important thing is to keep it running and running all the time.
Many aquarists believe that if the noise is even, the fish will get used to it and stop noticing it. The validity of this assumption can be seen if you observe the inhabitants of the aquarium while the aerator is running. They will calmly go about their business. But if you try to knock on the walls, the fish will immediately notice it.
Thus, the noise of the aerator, if it is an irritant for the fish, then they quickly get used to it and stop responding. From an unexpected noise, the fish can get scared, sometimes even jump out of the aquarium.
Compressor noise often disturbs people. If you are experiencing such inconveniences, then try to arrange noise insulation of the motor, but do not turn off the aerator at night in any case.
Experienced aquarists note that domestic compressors, as a rule, are noisier than high-quality foreign ones. An additional advantage of the latter is a long hose, which allows you to "hide" the compressor away, where it will not make noise and interfere with you or the fish.
Aeration rules for the aquarium
Aeration is the regular supply of oxygen to the aquarium so that its inhabitants can breathe. The lack of air in the water often leads to the fact that the fish try to jump out and die.
For aerating water, as a rule, one of two options is used. The first is the water pump. It is usually built into an internal filter through which water is driven. The diffuser, which is part of the device, sucks in air and saturates the water with it during the cleaning process.
The second way is to install a compressor. It takes air from the outside and delivers it to the water through a special spray. It is a device specially designed to oxygenate the aquarium.
When choosing a compressor, familiarize yourself with its characteristics. It is necessary that it matches the size of your aquarium in terms of power and flow. Sometimes the power can be adjusted.
The compressor also mixes the water in the aquarium. That is why it is recommended to install it near the heater so that the water has approximately the same temperature everywhere.
