Dogs of many breeds, such as Boxers and Doberman Pinschers, require ears to be cropped and then repositioned so that they stand correctly according to the standards. By themselves, their ears will not rise, so you will need to use some additional devices for this.
It is necessary
- - cotton-based adhesive plaster in a roll;
- - medical alcohol;
- - scissors with blunt tips;
- - baby powder;
- - cotton swabs for cleaning the ears.
Instructions
Step 1
Clean the inside and outside of the dog's ears, and degrease the inside of the ears with rubbing alcohol. Cut a piece from a roll of adhesive tape about the length of your pet's ear from the cartilage of the auricle to the tip of the ear. Cut it in half lengthwise and glue it to the inside of the ear along its entire length. Press firmly with your fingers so that the patch adheres well.
Step 2
Cut back a piece of adhesive tape 40-50 cm long, cut it in half lengthwise and cut it across into small squares. From the auricle along the already glued strip, begin to glue the squares to the edge of the ear, overlapping them and overlapping about 70-80% of the bottom square. Press each square firmly with your fingers, fixing it together.
Step 3
Take a stick for cleaning your ears and, using the same squares, glue it along the ear along a hard strip of adhesive plaster. Secure the plaster well to prevent your dog from pulling off the stick when scratching his ear or deciding that it is interfering with it.
Step 4
Powder the inside of your dog's ear with baby powder. Cut the plaster back into small strips 20-25 cm long. Glue the end of one such strip to the outside of the dog's ear at the base of the skull and start wrapping the ear around, forming a cone. Do not squeeze the dog's ear, it should not feel discomfort. The patch should be glued loosely so that you can stick your finger under it at the base of the ear.
Step 5
Cut off the remaining patch when you get to the tip of your ear. Powder the base of your dog's ear with baby powder around the patch. Glue the ear again with adhesive tape so that the formed cone is tight and holds the ear well in an upright position. Glue the other ear in the same way and make a cone of adhesive tape on it.
Step 6
Make a figure-eight bandage between your ears, which will allow you to fix both cones parallel to each other and as high as possible on the skull. With this design, the dog should pass at least 10-15 days. Watch it so that there is no irritation, sprinkle the ear at the base with a powder. Remove the bandage by cutting the cone with blunt-tipped medical scissors on the inside of the ear.
