Ticks are dangerous not only for humans, but also for dogs. The animal does not suffer from encephalitis, but it becomes infected with an equally dangerous disease - piroplasmosis. Even with timely treatment, a pet can be lost, therefore it is recommended to carry out preventive measures.
It is necessary
- - antiparasitic collar;
- - spray for ticks;
- - drops from parasites.
Instructions
Step 1
Wear an anti-parasite collar, available at the pet store. Of course, it cannot protect one hundred percent, but in combination with additional measures, it will help to avoid tick sucking. Study the instructions for use and do not forget to change the collar on time.
Step 2
On sale you can find sprays and drops that repel ticks. It is necessary to apply the agent to the withers of the animal during early spring, when there is still snow outside. After a few days, the drug is absorbed into the skin and distributed in the follicles. The aroma released will scare off parasites.
Step 3
Before going out in the nature, spray the animal's coat with an aerosol, which helps to protect against the attack of ticks. Usually, the agent has a complex effect: it repels midges, mosquitoes and other blood-sucking insects. Take care not to get the aerosol in your eyes.
Step 4
Be sure to inspect the animal for ticks upon arrival from a walk, if you have been in places where trees and grass grow. If you find a parasite, try removing it yourself or take the dog to a veterinary clinic. Pre-treat the tick with oil - preferably machine oil. Wrap your head and gently wobble in a circular motion, then remove. Lubricate the bite with alcohol or iodine.
Step 5
Monitor the general condition of the dog. If the temperature suddenly starts to rise, the appetite has disappeared, the animal has become lethargic and constantly lies, and the color of urine has also changed - urgently call a veterinarian or take the dog to the clinic yourself. He needs help, otherwise the death of the pet is possible.
