When a dog is rocked in a car, this can be noticed not only by obvious vomiting, but also by profuse salivation, rapid breathing, and strong anxiety of the animal. If the dog licks its lips frequently, this is also a sign of severe nausea.
Instructions
Step 1
Remember that often the dog is rocked not so much because of problems with the vestibular apparatus, but because of intense fear. Extraneous sounds, engine vibration, new and not always pleasant smells - all this can frighten the animal, and stress will lead to the fact that it will quickly become seasick. To solve the problem, give your pet some of his favorite treats every time you travel. It is advisable to take short trips at first, and it will be especially good if one of the owners at this time is sitting with the dog, stroking and soothing it.
Step 2
Try to drive as carefully and calmly as possible. Frequent turns, hard braking, rapid acceleration - all this leads to the fact that the dog begins to rock. Try to choose a flat road whenever possible. If the animal has a weakened vestibular apparatus, do not ride off-road with it - this will only aggravate the problem. By the way, this rule also applies to puppies under one year old, since they are not yet physically strong enough and can hardly tolerate trips.
Step 3
Ventilate your vehicle thoroughly before traveling. During the trip, make sure that no additional irritants appear: do not use fragrances, smoke, turn on loud music, shout or talk in a raised voice.
Step 4
Take your dog for a walk before riding, and then do not feed it for at least 2-3 hours. The exception is a small amount of special training treats. Of course, it is important to ensure that the animal has access to fresh water. To make it easier for your dog to travel, keep your car windows ajar or turn on the air conditioner. Stuffiness can be an additional cause of nausea.
Step 5
During long trips, do not forget to stop from time to time, walk the dog, give it a drink. If the animal is very nervous, you can give it a sedative. It is advisable to choose a remedy after consulting a veterinarian.
