Since the Yorkshire Terrier always lives in the house and is a tame pet, its coat must be kept clean. The main thing is not to overdo it, as too frequent washing removes the protective "sheath" of the hair, consisting of sebum, and does not allow it to recover. The optimal frequency of washing is once every one and a half to two weeks, maximum - once a week.
It is necessary
- 1) A rug or towel to lay on the bottom of the tub;
- 2) Special shampoo;
- 3) Balm and / or conditioner for wool;
- 4) Dry towel;
- 5) Hair dryer;
- 6) Comb.
Instructions
Step 1
First you need to lay a rubber mat or towel on the bottom of the bathtub so that the dog's paws do not come apart. Failure to do this will make your pet feel uncomfortable and nervous, which can make bathing difficult.
Step 2
After placing the yorkie in the bathtub, gently wet his fur from the shower. The water should be warm - 35–36 degrees. When the baby's fur coat is all wet, you need to apply shampoo on it with gentle movements, preferably according to hair growth so that the wool does not get tangled. The shampoo must first be diluted in a bowl of water and lather. Especially thoroughly you need to wash the abdomen and the area under the tail. The dog's muzzle should be washed last and very carefully so that water and soap do not get into the ears, eyes and nose.
Step 3
Next, thoroughly rinse the shampoo off the dog's body with warm water and apply a hair care product - balm and / or conditioner. To achieve a good result, every hair should be covered with it. Then rinse the product off the coat without residue.
Step 4
Wrap the clean dog in a towel and hold it in your hands for a few minutes. The towel should absorb excess moisture. Do not try to actively wipe the coat - it can get tangled.
Step 5
Then take a hair dryer and set it to warm air mode. You can not dry the Yorkie in hot or cold conditions. Be prepared to take a long time to notice the process, as you need to completely dry the coat without leaving any wet areas. If you leave them, the fur will lie in these places ugly, and in cold weather the pet may even catch a cold.
Step 6
The final stage is combing. Ideally, you should use a natural bristle brush, but you can get by with a special comb from a pet store. You can comb your Yorkie only after you have completely dried it, otherwise you can stretch the coat, making it ugly and brittle.
