Keeping your furry friend's fur clean requires constant attention from the owner. Short-haired hamsters usually cope with cleaning their fur coats on their own, but babies who have been rewarded by nature with long luxurious strands of wool need to be combed out with a special brush with a soft bristle.

- - sand for bathing chinchillas or hamsters;

- - zoo shampoo for rodents;

- - comb or toothbrush.
Instructions
Step 1
Give your hamster a sandbath. Few know that bathing in water is contraindicated for hamsters, so they use special volcanic sand to maintain their daily toilet. Be careful and do not pour ordinary river sand on the baby - the animal can get hurt by it. It is best to use special sand for bathing chinchillas or, if you find it, bathing hamsters. Place a small container in the cage and fill it 2-3 cm with sand. Your furry friend will decide for himself when he needs to take a bath and will be happy to clean himself as needed.
Step 2
After bathing, the long-haired hamster must be cleaned. Take a soft toothbrush or a special hamster comb and gently brush the entire length of the animal's fur coat. Make sure that there are no grains of sand or small debris left on his body, as they can injure the hamster or cause him some inconvenience. The bathing bath can be left in the cage for good, just do not forget to periodically clean the sand from debris.
Step 3
Bathe your baby in water and shampoo. You should resort to this method only if absolutely necessary: if the animal is infected with parasites or is very dirty and cannot clean its fur coat on its own. Pour a small amount of warm water into the bath and gently wash the animal with a special pet shampoo for hamsters. Be careful not to get soap and water in your eyes and ears. Some hamsters are very fond of water procedures and willingly agree to them, but, just in case, be prepared for the fact that your baby will not be overjoyed. After finishing washing, dry your hamster thoroughly with a soft towel and hair dryer.
