The cat's brain is not fully understood. Scientists say that the idea that cats have a very short memory is fundamentally wrong. Cats perfectly remember the necessary information and skillfully manipulate people, acting out misunderstanding when it suits them.
Excellent memory, excellent reflexes
Cats have lived next to humans throughout the history of civilization, so it is not surprising that they were able to adapt to humans and learn to change their behavior depending on the circumstances. Furry pets have excellent memory and excellent reflexes. Having seen an object for the first time, the animal carefully examines it and mentally assigns it to a dangerous, interesting or neutral category. Once familiar with a new object or phenomenon, a cat never forgets about its properties.
Curiosity is one of the main characteristics of a feline. Scientists argue that we need to talk not about idle curiosity, but about curiosity. The cat is careful, it approaches an unfamiliar object very slowly, after which it touches it with its paw. Once in a new area or room, the pet carefully examines it and instantly finds all dangerous and safe places. The cat immediately chooses the safest place for itself as a place to rest.
Experiments with cats and dogs
To find out the duration of a cat's memory and compare it with the memory of other animals, scientists conducted a series of experiments. Turning over several boxes, they hid food under one of them. The box, under which there was food, was equipped with a lighted light bulb. They showed this box to dogs and cats, made sure that the animals had absorbed the information, and took them out of the room.
Then the animals were brought into the room, maintaining a certain time interval. It turned out that the dogs remembered where the food was for five minutes. In the memory of cats, valuable information was stored for 16 hours, and this time interval is slightly less than that of highly developed primates - orangutans.
Creative thought
It is impossible to deny cats and in the presence of their creative thought. To validate their creativity, scientists recruited a group of cats and taught them how to move boxes on wheels. Then a piece of meat was hung high from the ceiling. The distance to the meat was so great that the animals could not reach it on their own.
After jumping a little, the cats began to look for a way out of the situation. One of the cats thought of pushing a box on wheels, climb on top of it and get a piece of meat. Her friends instantly picked up the idea and also began using boxes in order to achieve their goal. The results of these experiments indicate that cats do not differ that much in the level of intelligence from the textbook primates who pick up a stick and knock fruits off the tree with this stick.
