It is necessary

  • - water-repellent fabric;
  • - flannel or coarse calico for lining;
  • - paper for building patterns;
  • - ruler;
  • - pencil;
  • - Velcro;
  • - elastic band with limiters;
  • - elastic band;
  • - threads to match the fabric;
  • - sewing accessories.

Instructions

Step 1

Choose a lightweight, water-repellent fabric, you can use an old jacket or raincoat. An impregnated rubberized material is also suitable. The required amount of material is equal to the measurement of the height from withers to feet plus 10 cm. Use cotton materials for lining. For a lighter overalls, coarse calico is suitable. For warm - flannel.

Step 2

Make a paper pattern for the jumpsuit. Since every dog is different, there is no ready-made size template. But you can use the base pattern by making the necessary changes to it.

Step 3

Measure the length of the dog's back from the base of the neck to the tail. Divide this value by 8 and draw a sheet of paper into cells with sides equal to this value. Then transfer the lines of the base pattern to the paper. Measure the length of the legs and abdomen and make any necessary adjustments to the pattern. Cut out the details.

Step 4

Fold the fabric in half right side inward and cut out 2 pieces of overalls, 1 piece for the wedge. If necessary, you can also cut out a piping, although it is possible to use a ready-made bias tape instead. Cut out the fabric, leaving 1 cm for the seams and 1.5 cm for the hem of the neck, paw holes, butt and tail. Cut out the lining details in the same way.

Step 5

Make a preliminary outline. Fold the legs of the main part as follows. Connect points B1 and B2, A1 and A2 and sweep. Sew the side seam for the hind leg in the same way, connecting points G1 and G2 and D1, D2. Sew the trousers on the second part of the overalls in the same way.

Step 6

Put the pieces together. Sweep along the chest line from E1 to A2. Sew a wedge into the bottom of the overalls, connecting points E2 and E3.

Step 7

Try it on your dog. It is more convenient to put it on the wrong side so that the seams can be adjusted.

Step 8

Stitch the jumpsuit and lining at the basting seams on the machine. Nest them inside each other.

Step 9

Fold the flap parts right sides inward and sew on three sides, leaving one long unsewn. Turn them right out. Attach to the cuts on the back and stitch. Sew Velcro to the flap. Sew the lining to the underside of the fastener by hand with a blind stitch.

Step 10

Sew the neckline and tail hole with double piping. Insert the elastic into it and put the clips on the ends.

Step 11

Fold the underside of the legs 2 times to the wrong side and sew as close to the fold as possible. To better protect the legs from dirt, insert an elastic band into the hem.
