A runny nose in a rabbit can occur due to a decrease in the protective functions of the body, damage to the nasal mucosa, inadequate feeding and unfavorable conditions of detention. Most often, rabbits carry an infectious disease in wet weather - in autumn and spring. At the first symptoms of rhinitis in an animal, immediately start treating it.
It is necessary
- - furacillin;
- - penicillin;
- - "Ampiox";
- - vitamins;
- - minerals;
- - drugs that increase immunity.
Instructions
Step 1
A common cold in a rabbit, if untreated, can easily turn into infectious rhinitis. If the nasal membrane is swollen and red, mucopurulent discharge and sneezing appear, dried crusts make it difficult to breathe - this is already an infectious disease, the treatment of which requires a serious approach. First of all, separate sick animals to another room - isolate. All household items in contact with a sick rabbit must be disinfected.
Step 2
Immediately contact an experienced veterinarian who will make an accurate diagnosis, conduct the necessary medical research in a clinical setting that will detect drug sensitivity, and, based on laboratory results, will prescribe the appropriate treatment for your pet.
Step 3
Use furacillin solution to prevent a runny nose in a rabbit. To do this, boil half a glass of water and put a couple of tablets of the drug in it, mix thoroughly until completely dissolved, cool. Pipette the furacillin solution and put eight to ten drops into each nasal passage of the rabbit. Treatment should continue for two weeks. Consult a veterinarian who will prescribe a vitamin complex and drugs that increase the body's resistance to diseases.
Step 4
Penicillin (antibiotics) is used to treat infectious rhinitis in rabbits. Make a water solution and draw up into a pipette. Try to put the rabbit on its back on your lap and drip it into your nose. Continue antibiotic treatment for five to seven days. Soon, the purulent discharge from the nose will stop. Since the animal does not like the burial procedure, it will resist and scratch, so do not forget to wear rag gloves.
Step 5
Provide the animal with minerals and vitamins, drugs that increase immunity. Within two weeks, inject five to eight drops of Ampiox solution and the same amount of 1% furacillin solution into each rabbit's nostril. "Ampiox" is diluted at the rate of one capsule for two tablespoons of purified water.
