Step 1
Buy a special aquaterrarium for your pet. For one red-eared aquatic turtle, 100-150 milliliters of volume is enough. Equip it with an island, which you can also buy at pet stores. Its surface should help the turtle to get out of the water onto the island, clinging to its parts with its claws. Under no circumstances limit yourself to a plastic pallet. For a turtle, it is slippery and uncomfortable.
Step 2
Lay out the bottom of the aquaterrarium with pebbles, add algae. Use water for your pet from the tap, but at the same time it should settle for at least a day in a separate container. The aquatic red-eared turtle spends a lot of time in the water. You can also add snails or small fish. However, there is a danger that you can say goodbye to the fish if your turtle is hungry.
Step 3
Change the turtle's water once a month. Install a water filter for cleanliness in the aquaterrarium. Clean the walls of the aquaterrarium with special tools. Also maintain a constant temperature in her "house" (25-28 degrees above zero) using a simple incandescent lamp, which can be fixed over the island with a clothespin.
Step 4
Check with your pet store dealer about your turtle's diet and purchase special literature if needed. Do not feed the animal with the same food, from this it can get sick. Give her both plant and animal foods. Live fish, earthworms, snails, bloodworms, shrimp meat, raw liver, lettuce, carrots, clover, vegetables, fruits, duckweed and more. Feeding is best done on the islet, two to three times a week (depending on the species and age).
