Step 1
Get a cozy kitten house. There must be a closed place, a mink where he will sleep, open places for games and climbing. It is advisable that a scratching post be attached to one side, so you will save your upholstered furniture and curtains from puffs.
Step 2
Find a good location for the house. Usually the kitten chooses the places in which he feels comfortable. It could be a chair, sofa, battery, or even your bed. Try to set up a house near the place where the kitten usually likes to lie. Maybe a little time will pass and he will become his favorite haven.
Step 3
Attach your favorite cat toys, feathers to the house. Lure your pet to him and show that you can play there too. The kitten will get used to it, and then it can show interest in it and start exploring new territories. It is good if the house consists of several levels where the animal can climb and play.
Step 4
Place a mat in the house and saturate it with catnip or rub with dry valerian. Some kittens, after such actions, refuse to even crawl out of their shelter to eat. But use the herb in very small amounts, because its constant use is addictive. If your pet is used to wrapping up in any of your things - a scarf or an old hat - put them in the house.
Step 5
Play with the kitten near and inside his new home. Praise and encourage him with a treat if he comes and stays there. Make the house cozy with a warm mat or your cat's favorite toy. If it is small enough, you can use a rubber heating pad with warm water at first. Put it under the cat's bedding, and the kitten will gladly settle in such a warm place.
